At the ‘Smilnytsia’ checkpoint, servicemen of the 7th Border Carpathian Unit discovered five antique icons that were being illegally transported to Poland.<\/p>\n
During an inspection of a Volkswagen car with Polish registration, border guards noticed something suspicious. Among personal belongings in the luggage compartment, as well as under the back row of seats, they found five icons in wooden frames. The driver was a 56-year-old Polish citizen.<\/p>\n
Given the possible historical and cultural value of the icons, they will be sent for examination. Experts will assess their age, authenticity, and significance.<\/p>\n
