It was established that the detainee offered a serviceman of the 7th border detachment 6,000 dollars to facilitate his illegal crossing of the state border into one of the European Union countries through a border checkpoint.<\/p>\n
The perpetrator, a 25-year-old resident of the Lviv district, was exposed by investigators of the department of investigation of especially serious crimes of the investigative department of Lviv police, in cooperation with operatives of the Strategic Investigations Directorate in Lviv region, employees of the internal security department of the 7th border detachment, under the procedural guidance of the Lviv specialized prosecutor’s office in the field of defense of the Western region.<\/p>\n
On May 8, law enforcement officers detained him in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine in the Sheptytsky district after he handed over part of the agreed amount of 4,600 dollars to the border guard.<\/p>\n
The detainee was notified of suspicion concerning a criminal offense provided for by Part 3 of Article 369 (Proposal, promise or provision of improper benefit to an official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment by imprisonment for a term of four to eight years with confiscation of property or without such.<\/p>\n
In addition, a pre-trial investigation is underway in the criminal proceedings initiated under Part 3 of Article 332 (Illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment by imprisonment for a term of seven to nine years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years with confiscation of property.<\/p>\n
