In the Lviv region, police have detained a pensioner who attempted to murder his relative.<\/p>\n
The perpetrator inflicted several blows with an axe on the head of his granddaughter’s husband, who came home in a drunken state. For his actions, he faces a penalty of imprisonment for up to fifteen years. The injured man is in the hospital with serious bodily injuries.<\/p>\n
Law enforcement officers established that the incident occurred on June 1 in one of the villages of the Lviv district. A conflict arose between the 77-year-old homeowner and his 33-year-old granddaughter’s husband, who came home intoxicated. After the younger man went to sleep, the elder struck him several times on the head with the back of an axe, causing bodily injuries. Subsequently, the victim was taken to the hospital and is currently in the intensive care unit under medical supervision.<\/p>\n
Operatives of the criminal police, investigators, and staff from other services of police department No.1 of the Lviv district police department No.1 were involved in solving the crime.<\/p>\n
The perpetrator was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code. Investigators of the territorial police unit, under the procedural guidance of the Zhovkva District Prosecutor’s Office, informed him of the suspicion of committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 15 – Part 1 of Article 115 (Attempted murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article’s sanction provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term from seven to fifteen years.<\/p>\n
