The incident occurred during a conflict between the accused and the truck driver. The shooter faces punishment of up to seven years of imprisonment.<\/p>\n
As established by officers of the police department No.1 of the Sheptytskyi district police department, on April 22, at around 22:00 in the Sheptytskyi district near the village of Lopatin, a verbal altercation broke out between a 58-year-old local resident and the driver of a MAN truck, escalating into a conflict during which the local resident returned home and came back with a hunting rifle. Intending to damage the truck’s tires, the man fired two shots, but pellets ricocheted and hit his own leg.<\/p>\n
The weapon used in the shooting was seized by law enforcement officers. The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceeding, opened under the procedural guidance of the Sheptytskyi district prosecutor’s office under part 4 of Article 296 (“Hooliganism”) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, has been concluded. The indictment has been forwarded to court for consideration.<\/p>\n
The accused faces a penalty of three to seven years of imprisonment.<\/p>\n
