On June 13, two more abandoned vehicles were removed from the streets of Lviv and relocated to the police impound lot. The decision was made by the city’s public space commission after determining that the vehicles violated maintenance rules and posed a danger to residents.<\/p>\n
One of the cars, an old “VAZ,” had been sitting on Kulparkivska Street, 168, for over a year. Another vehicle remained motionless for more than three years on Masaryk Street, 2, covered in rust and overgrown with vegetation.<\/p>\n
According to the Department of Safety and Street Infrastructure of Lviv City Council, notification stickers were placed on the vehicles over a month ago. Since the owners did not respond, the commission ordered their relocation.<\/p>\n
The cars will be stored at the impound lot for six months. If not claimed within that time, they will be sold at auction. Proceeds from the sale will be held in a special account. If unclaimed for three years, the funds will go to Lviv\u2019s local budget.<\/p>\n
So far, the commission has approved the relocation of 11 abandoned vehicles. These are being evacuated in phases to the new police impound lot on Koniushynna Street, which is still under development.<\/p>\n
The city introduced this vehicle removal process last year. District administrations identify abandoned cars and post notices. If after a month the owner fails to act, the car can be removed by commission decision. Storage fees are 120 UAH for the first 7 days, then 20 UAH per day thereafter.<\/p>\n
