Today, October 20, the Drohobych community with honors laid to rest its fallen son, Ukrainian defender Maryan Mykytyn. Since April 2025, the soldier was considered missing in action. Only now was his identity confirmed, allowing him to be returned home for farewell and burial.<\/p>\n
Maryan was born on September 3, 1991. He lived in the city of Stebnyk. He graduated from School No. 7, after which he entered the Drohobych Oil College. Later, he served in the army. He graduated from DDPU and worked as a photographer.<\/p>\n
During the full-scale invasion, on May 18, 2023, Maryan stood in defense of Ukraine. He was a junior sergeant of the 2nd platoon of unmanned aviation complexes of the 1st mechanized battalion of military unit A0998.<\/p>\n
The resident of Stebnyk bravely defended Ukraine for two years. On April 26, 2025, in the area of the settlement of Virolubivka, Donetsk region, communication with the soldier was lost due to a strike by an enemy drone. After which he was considered missing in action.<\/p>\n
Surviving him are his son, parents, and brother.<\/p>\n
Today, a mourning convoy with the body of the fallen soldier arrived at his native community. The procession was met at the Heroes’ Crossroad, where relatives, friends, community leaders, and fallen comrades gathered. Under the escort of clergymen, a joint prayer was held here.<\/p>\n
After the Heroes’ Crossroad, the mourning convoy with the soldier’s body was taken to his hometown of Stebnyk, where a city-wide farewell took place at the central Shevchenko Square.<\/p>\n
The funeral ceremony continued at the Church of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin (Kolpets Microdistrict).<\/p>\n
