The speakers recalled the horrific tragedy caused by the artificial famine orchestrated by the totalitarian Stalinist regime. Father Yaroslav Kashchuk and Deputy Mayor of Sokal, Volodymyr Ohinskyi, emphasized that the Holodomor was an act of genocide aimed at eradicating the Ukrainian people and their cultural identity.<\/p>\n
They also stressed that remembering the Holodomor is not only a tribute to the dead but also a historical reminder of the cost of freedom and dignity\u2014values that Ukrainian soldiers are defending today against Russian aggression.<\/p>\n
