An exhibition dedicated to Nil Khasevych, a prominent graphic artist of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army, has opened in Lviv.<\/p>\n
The exhibition \u201cNil Khasevych \u2013 Known and Unknown\u201d presented at the Lviv Historical Museum is dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the artist’s birth. The museum presented rare exhibits reflecting the wartime realities and the struggle of Ukrainians. The exhibition showcases over 100 graphic works by Khasevych, presented as copies due to the exceptional value of the originals.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe figure of Nil Khasevych is an example of how, in extremely difficult and dangerous conditions, one can realize their talent and be highly beneficial to their community, society, and the state, which at that time everyone only dreamed of\u201d<\/em>, emphasized the museum director Roman Chmelyk.<\/p>\n The head of the Lviv Regional Council’s commission, Sviatoslav Sheremeta, emphasized the importance of popularizing national history. Senior research associate Lyuba Koval noted that Khasevych\u2019s art was dangerous for the occupiers, and his works were widely reproduced abroad. In 1952, Khasevych died in a bunker during a fight with the occupiers.<\/p>\n A separate part of the exhibition is dedicated to the bophons \u2013 UPA money that the artist also designed.
