Surgeons successfully operated on a 15-year-old girl with a congenital intestinal defect.<\/p>\n
Maria-Diana was admitted to the hospital with acute colonic obstruction caused by a volvulus of the sigmoid colon. The girl complained of severe abdominal pain and absence of bowel movements. The cause was a congenital intestinal anomaly – dolichocolon.<\/p>\n
The operation was performed by the head of the surgical department Oleh Sodoma and his team. “It was a very complicated operation that we performed urgently. We removed about 70 cm of necrotic bowel and created an ostomy,”<\/em> said Oleh Sodoma.<\/p>\n After the first stage of treatment, the girl’s condition stabilized. Three months later, the second stage was carried out, during which the ostomy was closed and the integrity of the intestine was restored. The operation was successful, with no complications.<\/p>\n Today, Maria-Diana lives a full life, without an ostomy and without pain.
