The incident occurred on February 2 around 8:00 PM. A 24-year-old resident of the village reported to police that her dog had been killed by gunfire.<\/p>\n
Investigators, criminal police operatives, and forensic experts from Police Department No. 3 of Lviv District Police Department No. 2 responded to the scene. Preliminary findings suggest the animal was shot, possibly with hunting ammunition, as metallic fragments resembling buckshot were discovered in the dog’s spine. The dog succumbed to its injuries.<\/p>\n
The dog’s body has been sent for veterinary forensic examination to determine exact details of the incident.<\/p>\n
Under the procedural guidance of the Pustomyty District Prosecutor’s Office, a criminal case has been opened under Part 1 of Article 299 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine \u2014 cruelty to animals. This offense carries a penalty of one to three years of restricted freedom or two to three years of imprisonment, along with mandatory confiscation of the animal.<\/p>\n
