<\/p>\n

On 24 March, Lviv will hold a farewell ceremony for serviceman Roman Petriv<\/strong>, who gave his life defending Ukraine from Russian occupiers. The city authorities urge residents and visitors to join the farewell ceremony and refrain from entertainment activities on this day, as reported by the Lviv City Council<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The ceremony will begin at 09:30 at the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary on Maksymovycha Street, 2B, and will continue at 11:00 at the Garrison Church of Sts. Peter and Paul. The city-wide farewell ceremony will take place at Rynok Square at approximately 11:30. Afterwards, at 13:00, the farewell will continue at the family home in the village of Novosilky, Zolochiv district, and at 14:00 at the local Church of St Nicholas. The burial will take place at the local cemetery.<\/p>\n

Roman Petriv<\/strong> was born on 27 August 1975 in Lviv. He studied at Lyceum No. 75 named after Lesya Ukrainka, and later at the Automotive and Road College of the National University “Lviv Polytechnic”. After his military service, he worked as a plumber at Lviv Railway. He loved mushroom picking and was passionate about gardening. He was a participant in the ATO, and with the onset of the full-scale invasion, he joined the defence of Ukraine as part of the 80th Separate Air Assault Brigade.<\/p>\n

For his service, Roman was awarded the President of Ukraine’s “For the Defence of Ukraine” distinction and the “Cross of Valour” medal from the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine. He is survived by his brothers, nephew, and family.<\/p>\n
