In the centre of Lviv<\/strong> on Svobody Avenue, a test sandblasting treatment of granite tiles has been completed to make the surface less slippery and safer for pedestrians. Approximately 75% of the work was carried out by the contracting company on Saturday, with the remainder completed on Monday morning, as reported by the Lviv City Council<\/a>.<\/p>\n Ivan Matkivskyi, Deputy Head of the Halytskyi District Administration for Housing and Communal Services, noted that the work was planned for the morning to minimise inconvenience for pedestrians. The contracting company agreed to carry out the work at a discount.<\/p>\n “The work is being co-financed by the McDonald\u2019s restaurant chain. The contractor gave us a 30% discount. We often work this way: the city partially contributes, and partners and businesses help as well. Thanks to such cooperation, we can address safety issues in the urban space more quickly,” he added.<\/p>\n Over the course of a month, the treated tiles will be tested to check how much their anti-slip properties have improved. If the result is effective, the approach may be applied to the entire avenue.<\/p>\n It is worth noting that the pedestrian surface on Svobody Avenue, covering an area of over 1,800 sq. m, was installed more than ten years ago. Over time, it became apparent that the tiles had become slippery, especially during rain and in the winter period, prompting the district administration to seek solutions to this problem.<\/p>\n
