Due to the rise in fuel prices<\/strong>, Lviv is considering the possibility of revising fares for public transport<\/strong>. This issue has become pertinent due to developments in the fuel market, which have caused financial difficulties for transport operators.<\/p>\n

According to Oleg Zabarilo, Director of the Department of Urban Mobility LMR, the temporary suspension of free transfers in March yielded certain results. Passengers began paying for trips more frequently, which allowed transport operators to secure additional funds and partially offset fuel costs.<\/p>\n

Igor Samardak, General Director of the ‘Ecopastrans’ consortium, noted that the debts of the companies within the consortium amount to around 20 million hryvnias for fuel. He emphasised that without fare increases, transport operators might face the inability to continue their operations.<\/p>\n

Transport operators propose to set the average cost of a single journey in Lviv<\/strong> at 42 UAH, although the final decision still requires consideration by the executive committee of the Lviv City Council. The fare regulation procedure has already commenced and will last about a month.<\/p>\n

In other Ukrainian cities, such as Dnipro, Odesa, and Kryvyi Rih, fare increases are also being considered. It is expected that a single journey here could cost up to 25 UAH, irrespective of the payment method.<\/p>\n

Please note, the last time fares in Lviv were reviewed was in 2025, when the fuel price was approximately 45 UAH per litre. Currently, in Lviv, the price range for students with a LeoKart is 8.5 UAH, for the general LeoKart \u2014 17 UAH, when paying by bank card \u2014 20 UAH, while cash payments reach 25 UAH.<\/p>\n
