220 defenders benefited from a pilot project on dental prosthetics and dental treatment in Lviv region

Defenders of Ukraine can receive dental care free of charge under the pilot project “Dental Prosthetics for Certain Categories of Persons Who Defended the Independence, Sovereignty and Territorial Integrity of Ukraine”, implemented by the National Health Service of Ukraine in cooperation with the Ministry of Health. The project includes two services: dental treatment and prosthetics.

“The pilot project ‘Dental prosthetics and dental treatment for certain categories of persons who defended the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine’ is administered by the National Health Service of Ukraine. So far, 11,142 people have received these services free of charge. Most of them are in Kharkiv, Poltava and Sumy regions. As the Ministry of Health of Ukraine will continue to implement the project next year, we are currently working together on proposals and communication. We want the project to continue to benefit all those who have defended and continue to defend our country from the enemy,” says Natalia Husak, Head of the NHSU.

Since the beginning of the pilot project, 8,398 defenders have already used the treatment service, and 4,465 have received dental prosthetics. The NHSU paid almost UAH 30 million for dental prosthetics and more than UAH 12 million for dental treatment services.

“In the Lviv region, seven medical institutions are already providing dental prosthetics services under the pilot project, and 20 – dental pain management. The first service has already been used by 80 patients, almost all of them at Lviv Medical University, the second – by 171, and most of them also at the medical university. The total number of patients in the region is 220. The services can be used not only by combatants, but also by war veterans, people with disabilities as a result of the war, as well as by servicemen who have not yet received the status of combatants but continue to perform combat missions,” says Tatiana Kudyk, Director of the Western Interregional Department of the NHSU.

The maximum cost of dental treatment services cannot exceed UAH 24,952, and dental prosthetics – UAH 14,984.

How to get dental treatment services:

What documents are required: a passport of a citizen of Ukraine; a taxpayer’s registration card; a certificate (of a combatant/person with a disability as a result of war/a war veteran’s certificate and/or a military ID card for privates, sergeants and officers).

Servicemen who are not on leave must also receive a referral from their military unit commander. And then contact a doctor who will provide a referral for the relevant service.

Important! Defenders have the right to use dental prosthetics and dental treatment services anywhere, regardless of their place of residence, stay or registration. Each service can be used once during the year up to the maximum amount.

Dental prosthetics and dental treatment are covered as two separate services under the pilot project. Patients can receive both dental treatment and prosthetics services free of charge, depending on their needs:
