In Ukraine in general and in the Lviv region in particular, the number of patients with coronavirus infection is growing rapidly. Over the past week, the incidence of covid in the Drohobych community has tripled.
According to Svyatoslav Kucheryavyi, deputy head of the health department of the Drohobych City Council, as of August 12, 19 patients were hospitalized in the infectious diseases department of the Stebnytsia City Hospital. Most of them have serious conditions.
To avoid morbidity or its severe conditions, doctors say that vaccination remains the only effective and safe way to gain immunity. It is especially recommended for people at risk. Covid vaccinations are free of charge for every Ukrainian.
As for Drohobych, you can get vaccinated against covid disease at the vaccination room at the Drohobych City Polyclinic. Currently, the Pfizer vaccine is available.
According to Svyatoslav Kucheryavyi, no other vaccination points are being set up in the city. If the disease continues to grow rapidly, then other medical institutions will have to open covid vaccination centers.
According to doctors, vaccination schemes for the population are being simplified: for most people, it is enough to get one vaccination against covid. For people who are at risk of severe disease, more doses are provided – that is, revaccination in 6-12 months.
The need for revaccination is determined by a doctor, taking into account the recommendations approved by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
We would like to add that this year’s symptoms of covid disease are similar to influenza and are characterized by high body temperature – up to 40 °C. Doctors emphasize that at the first sign of the disease, you should seek medical help and not self-medicate.
