Lviv doctors restore beauty to a girl from Severodonetsk whose face was disfigured by a Russian missile

A Russian missile disfigured Anna’s face on her birthday. Now she is preparing for her wedding and wants to be beautiful again and erase the traces of war from her body.

The specialists of the UNBROKEN center are helping her with this.

Now Anna Kotova from Sievierodonetsk, Luhansk region, is 20 years old. After a full-scale war broke out and the enemy attacked her hometown, she and her boyfriend moved to Dnipro. But even there, the war caught up with her. On January 14, 2023, on Anna’s 19th birthday, a Russian missile hit a neighboring building. At that moment, Anna was accepting birthday greetings.

“My cousin called me. I went to the kitchen. We were talking on video. On the screen, I looked at my own image and thought: how beautiful I am. That was the last time I saw myself with two eyes,” she recalls.

The shockwave shattered the windows and numerous pieces of glass cut the girl’s body and face. One of them was stuck a millimeter from her carotid artery and could have killed Anna at any moment. Dnipro doctors removed the dangerous object in time to save the girl’s life. But they could not save her left eye.

Anna continued her treatment in Austria, where an eye prosthesis was made for her. Now the girl’s face and body still bear traces of the injury: scars and scars. To get rid of them, she turned to the specialists of the First Medical Association of Lviv.

The plastic surgeons of the Aesthetic Medicine Center have already consulted the patient, drawn up a treatment plan and performed the first stage of laser resurfacing of the scars on her body. This procedure stimulates collagen production and masks skin defects.

Anna wants to regain her beauty before marriage. Her boyfriend Denys proposed to her while she was undergoing treatment in Ukrainian hospitals. And now Anna hopes that thanks to the efforts of Lviv specialists, her dream will finally come true.
