The Lviv rehabilitation center “Nezlamni” promises to open in three weeks

In just three weeks, one of the largest rehabilitation centers of Ukraine – the UNBROKEN National Rehabilitation Center – will be opened in Lviv. One of the seven floors of the center will be dedicated to the Lithuanian city of Vilnius, which, on the occasion of its 700th anniversary, donated 700,000 euros to the development of the rehabilitation ecosystem.

Today, the mayor of Vilnius Remigius Šimašius and the mayor of Lviv Andriy Sadovy inspected the ongoing renovations in the premises of the future center and talked with the employees and patients undergoing rehabilitation. Remigius Šimašius also visited the City Hall and left a note in the Book of Honored Guests of Lviv.

As Remigius Šimašius noted, this aid is very symbolic for Lviv, because it is a joint struggle of all European countries for a free life and freedom.

“This year, our city is celebrating its anniversary, and we are very happy about such cooperation with Ukraine, and especially with Lviv,” emphasized Remigius Šimašius.

And so he wrote in the Book of Honored Guests of the city: “It is a great honor to be in beautiful Lviv, to support on behalf of the residents and cooperate with UNBROKEN for the sake of victory and freedom.”

“It’s nice that Vilnius handed over 700,000 euros so that we could open the center as soon as possible. This is the work of a large number of people for the sole purpose of helping Ukrainians to return to a new rhythm of life,” noted Andriy Sadovy.

The mayor emphasized that many benefactors and donors are helping to develop the NEZLAMNI ecosystem in Lviv, including, in particular, the German city of Freiburg, to which one of the center’s floors will also be dedicated.

Only last year, the First Medical Association of Lviv treated half a million people, of which 11,000 are seriously injured people as a result of the war. And full rehabilitation is part of the treatment. Therefore, thanks to the UNBROKEN center, people from all over Ukraine will get a completely new access to rehabilitation for free: it is an opportunity to save, prosthetics and rehabilitate Ukrainians in Ukraine.

“Talking about the new center, which is connected to the main building of the hospital by a bridge, we understand that thanks to such a location we have access to the best surgeons, orthopedists, transplant specialists, prosthetists, and there is a building nearby where all the people who are treated at us will receive the best opportunity for rehabilitation – physical and psychological. In the main building there is a department of psychiatry, and here there is a mental health center, in the main building there is surgery, and here there is rehabilitation after difficult operations, there they install prostheses, and here there is rehabilitation after prosthetics. Our patients are very much looking forward to this building,” said Iryna Zaslavets, development director of the First Medical Association of Lviv, one of the leaders of the UNBROKEN project.

The NEZLAMNI National Rehabilitation Center on the basis of the First Medical Association of Lviv is a unique place where everyone who suffered from the war gets a chance to be saved and rehabilitated in their native country. A multidisciplinary team of specialists works with each such Ukrainian: a surgeon, a traumatologist, a prosthetist, a psychotherapist, and a rehabilitation specialist. The patient does not seek help abroad or in several different institutions – he receives it in one center. Thanks to the support of donors, a prosthetics workshop was opened and bionic prostheses are installed. Over the course of a year, 100 Ukrainians have already received prosthetics here for free.
