During the operation of the neonatal screening department for newborns, 584 children were discharged here.
Recently, the head of Lviv OVA together with the Ministers of Health of Ukraine and France visited the Lviv Regional Clinical Perinatal Center. Viktor Lyashko noted the team’s successes, in particular in raising prematurely born children.
Since autumn, the Regional Neonatal Screening Center for newborns, which operates on the basis of the perinatal center, has conducted 868,000 tests on 28,000 samples of dry blood spots of newborns and 3,203 repeated tests. 29 confirmed positive results were recorded.
We will remind you that the center conducts research on 21 genetic pathologies of newborns. It works for 7 regions of Ukraine. Such an examination helps to react in time to possible deviations from the normal indicators of the child’s blood analysis, to detect pathologies and to apply protocol therapy and correction even at the preclinical stage.
Thanks to the contract with the NHSHU, extended neonatal screening, which was previously offered only at private maternity hospitals, is free for all newborns here.
During the operation of the specialized department, 584 children have already been discharged here. The smallest baby weighed 580 grams. More than 1,100 women who were forced to leave their native regions were able to become mothers thanks to the care and professionalism of the staff of the Lviv Regional Clinical Perinatal Center.
There is also a modern high-tech breast milk bank. This year, the department of assisted reproductive technologies was opened in the center. Now they are developing a project to build a new building for a children’s hospital.
“I thank the ministers for their support and positive feedback. Thank you to the team led by Maria Malachynska for giving Ukrainian families hope and confidence. Thank you for worrying about the dearest,” the head of Lviv Oblast emphasized.
