Cooperation between Italian and Lviv surgeons in the treatment of patients with the most severe mine and explosive injuries will continue. After all, such experience is especially valuable in building the NEZLAMNI rehabilitation ecosystem in Lviv. This was discussed during the meeting by the mayor of Lviv Andriy Sadovy, the mayor of Vimerkate Francesco Chereda and his deputy Mariasol Masiya, as well as the famous Italian surgeon Roberto Brambilla, who helped treat wounded Ukrainians in Lviv for two months.
First, Andriy Sadovy told the guests about the ecosystem of support and care UNBROKEN, which is being built in Lviv. In particular, about a rehabilitation center, a town for mothers, as well as modern bionic prostheses, which are installed for Ukrainians in Lviv.
The mayor of Vimerkate, Francesco Chereda, testified that he is ready to help and participate in the implementation of important projects in Lviv. And the surgeon Roberto Brambilla, who has been treating serious injuries for more than 50 years, assured that the cooperation between doctors will not stop.
“When I found out that there are a lot of injured people here, especially children, I asked myself what I could do for them. That’s how I started cooperating with a hospital in Lviv. It’s a great team here that does a really good job. And I want to pass on my skills to them. My heart is here in Lviv,” said Roberto Brambilla.
It should be noted that Roberto Brambilla is one of the most famous Italian surgeons, the head of the Department of Vulnology (from the Latin vulnus – “wound”) of the Zucchi Clinical Institute in the Italian city of Monza. He has been treating serious injuries for 50 years, 22 of which he has been dealing with regenerative medicine. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Roberto arrived in Ukraine as a Soletere Olnus volunteer and spent two months helping to treat wounded children and adults. In particular, he taught me how to cover soft tissue defects with artificial skin: this technology allows you to restore the patient’s damaged skin centimeter by centimeter without leaving scars. Expensive materials for the treatment of Ukrainian children were allocated by the institute where the surgeon works.
