During his working trip, Vit Rakushan visited soldiers undergoing treatment and rehabilitation.
The Minister of Internal Affairs of the Czech Republic Vit Rakushan is in Lviv today. The program of the working trip includes a joint visit with the leadership of Lviv OVA to the hospital where Ukrainian defenders undergo rehabilitation.
Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the Czech Republic has supported Ukraine in every possible way, in particular the Lviv region. Last year, the Czech Republic provided the hospital with medical equipment within the scope of the “Renovation of Operating Rooms” project of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Czech Republic and its Consulate General in Lviv.
As Iryna Butynets, director of the MTD and international cooperation department of LOVA, said, thanks to this help, the institution was equipped with two operating rooms. The equipment includes operating tables, ceiling consoles, sterilizers, vacuum cleaners, and tool sets. Czech colleagues also conducted training for hospital doctors and nurses who work in operating rooms. The minister inspected the new equipment, talked with the staff and was satisfied.
“This facility looks like a European standard. I want to thank both Ukrainian and Czech doctors who cooperate and gain experience. I also thank my colleagues, because the project “Renovation of operating rooms” belongs to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and we are proud of it. We will continue to work on the project,” noted First Vice Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Vit Rakušan.
According to the head of the institution, a large amount of work still needs to be done to improve the stay of patients in the hospital. The institution’s administration is working on it. The minister was also told about another project located on the territory of the hospital. This is Superhumans – a center for prosthetics and rehabilitation of victims. The medical institution works closely with the center so that patients who need prosthetics can get them.
This year, the hospital planned to overhaul the premises of all operating theaters and the sterilization room. The administration hopes for further support from Czech colleagues.
“They were asked to assist in the supply of sterilization equipment for these premises, as well as the necessary furniture,” says Iryna Butynets. – The help of international partners is extremely important for the hospital, because the institution’s financial resources are limited, and expenses and needs are increasing all the time. And we are grateful to our colleagues from the Czech Republic that they understand this. I would like to add that thanks to the cooperation of the hospital with the Czech partners, in November 2023, the Medevac medical and humanitarian mission started working at the institution: Czech surgeons, together with Ukrainian surgeons, performed a number of complex operations on our defenders at the hospital. The program will continue throughout the year.”
With the support of the Czech humanitarian organization “People in Need”, repair work was carried out in 14 institutions of the region so that internally displaced persons could live there comfortably. These are dormitories of educational institutions in Novy Rozdol, Stryi, Stebnik, Medenychy, Drohobych, hospital premises in Stryi and Sosnivka, kindergartens in Pidhorodny, a modular frame house in Drohobych, where up to 80 people can live. Renovation works in the premises of the former rehabilitation treatment department of the hospital in Stoyaniv, the building of the Zolochiv complex rehabilitation center for persons with disabilities in the village of Bily Kamin, are nearing completion.
In total, more than 1.9 thousand people will be able to live in the renovated premises. The estimated amount of help from Czech partners is 29 million hryvnias.
The organization “People in Need” also helped equip 13 other shelters with furniture, household appliances, household goods. Also last year, when Lviv Oblast had problems with electricity supply, the organization provided powerful generators to 7 institutions where internally displaced persons live.
The Czech Republic also handed over four generators for our medical facilities: two for the regional clinical hospital and one each for the regional perinatal center and the Stryi Central District Hospital.
“I want the war to end as soon as possible. Thank you to all the Ukrainian people who are fighting for victory and for our values,” Vit Rakushan expressed his gratitude.
The head of the Lviv region, Maksym Kozytskyi, thanked his Czech colleagues for their concern for our people and expressed hope for further fruitful cooperation.
