New York students collected funds for a device to save Ukrainian children in Lviv

The student organization American Students for Health of the University of the State of New York in Stony Brook collected funds for a modern venoscanner “AIMVEIN PRO 2.0 PLUS” for the treatment of newborns at the Center for Neonatology of the Saint Nicholas Children’s Hospital in Lviv.

One of the organizers of this gathering was 19-year-old student Daniel Razgonyaev, who was born in the USA, but by origin is Ukrainian. He really wanted to help, so he and his friends announced a fundraiser. Therefore, they transferred all the collected money to BF “Wings of Hope” to purchase this equipment.

“AIMVEIN PRO 2.0 PLUS” venoscanner is a device needed for visualization of blood vessels in children, in particular, newborns, during blood sampling or venipuncture. After all, their veins are almost invisible. Scanning minimizes pain and trauma during such procedures.

“Nastuna, tiny girl, is a little over two weeks old. After birth, the child developed one of the most serious diseases of the neonatal period – meconium aspiration syndrome. Her treatment continues, and now the girl is learning to breathe and eat on her own. Every few days, Nastya has a catheter installed to administer the necessary medications. And the venoscanner is an opportunity to reduce the number of punctures and the pain that the procedure can cause for a baby,” explains the Neonatology Center of the St. Nicholas Children’s Hospital of the First Medical Association of Lviv.

By the way, up to 30 babies need this kind of help every day at the Center for Neonatology.
