The Center for Mental Health started working in the Second Medical Association of Lviv

From now on, the mental health of Lviv residents and internally displaced persons is professionally cared for in the Second Medical Association of Lviv. A psychologist, a psychiatrist and a sexologist are accepted at the address: str. Chuprinka, 48.

“The development of the Mental Health Center is a very important direction. Lviv has a general concept of mental health development until 2030. We understand the importance of our patient’s mental health. We are at war, people are suffering from the effects of air raids, and our soldiers are on the front lines. War is stress, pain and loss.

This is already the second Mental Health Center in the city. Our family doctors are trained to recognize signs of depression or other mental health issues in a patient. According to statistics, every third person in Ukraine suffers from a mental health disorder. The patient may not even recognize that he has such a disorder. A family doctor can recognize this and refer to a mental health center. We plan to open such centers in every polyclinic in the city,” says Lesya Kobetska, head of the health care department of the Lviv City Council.

The Center conducts professional diagnosis of the state of the psyche, holistic analysis of each clinical situation, selection of the best method of treatment, consultations of related specialists, individual and group psychotherapy, cooperation with social services and public organizations, group meetings for different categories of the population (pregnant women, internally displaced persons). .

“Today, the Mental Health Center employs a psychologist, a psychiatrist and a sexologist. In the future, we plan to expand the center, there is a project where there will be rehabilitation. This is a small step towards what we plan to do. In the Second Medical Association, 207,000 people are declared at the primary level, which is a fifth of the city. The main task we set before ourselves is the cooperation of the specialists of the Mental Health Center with doctors of family medicine. Our goal is to identify people who fall into despair due to the protracted war process and refer them to the Mental Health Center,” explains Andrii Myskiv, head of the Second Medical Association of Lviv.

The center was created for about two months.

“This is our first stage in the plans to create a larger Center that will combine mental and physical rehabilitation. Anyone who needs to talk about their life, fears and future can contact the Center. Family doctors who notice the need for psychological/psychological support in their patients will give referrals for a free consultation to the specialists of the Center. You can apply without a referral, on a paid basis, if a person does not want to record his application through family doctors, give his name, etc.,” says Yuliya Vasylyshyn, Acting Director. medical director of the 5th hospital of the Second Medical Association of Lviv.

“We did not prepare only by our own forces. Trainers from Israel came to us and conducted training on work with acute stress. These are people who have experience in organizing aid in countries where military operations are taking place. Therefore, we have gained very useful experience and are already implementing it in our work,” says the head of the Center for Mental Health of the Second Medical Association of Lviv, sexologist Nikita Galapach.
