The Lviv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention has announced an increase in the number of flu and acute respiratory disease (ARD) cases in the region, exceeding the epidemic threshold by 19.6%. There is an active circulation of influenza type A and B viruses, adenovirus, rhinovirus, and RS virus in the area.
It was recently recorded that two 67-year-old men, who suffered from comorbidities and were not vaccinated, died from the diseases. During the last weekly report, an increase of 1,925 cases was recorded in the region compared to the previous week, bringing the total number of cases to 12,771.
Medical experts emphasize the importance of wearing masks in medical facilities when symptoms of a cold are present, avoiding self-medication, and the necessity of getting vaccinated against the flu. They also advise avoiding crowded places and being responsible regarding attendance at workplaces, schools, and children’s groups if cold symptoms are detected.
