On Friday, March 17, the first and unprecedented in the history of Ukrainian medicine educational and practical course of the leading American organization – Society of Critical Care Physicians (SCCM) will start.
The purpose of the training is to prepare Ukrainian intensive care and emergency doctors, in particular, military medics, to use ultrasound diagnostics for patients with critical conditions – bleeding, mine-explosive injuries, polytrauma, etc. Accreditation for mass media for the event lasts until 20:00 on March 16.
Until now, expert SCCM courses of this level were conducted only in the USA and several European countries. This time, in connection with the full-scale war, top lecturers and instructors of the organization will teach our doctors to use ultrasound systems of all types for rapid diagnosis, pain relief and intensive therapy. Participants will practice all practical tasks within the course with volunteers.
The organizers will hold three two-day courses that will last from March 17 to 24 for three groups of doctors from all over Ukraine. There will also be a separate expert-level course for Ukrainian instructors who will later train doctors in their medical institutions. 180 Ukrainian doctors will be trained.
Also, representatives of the Society of Critical Care Physicians (SCCM) will hand over charitable assistance – portable ultrasound systems with displays to doctors in medical institutions that receive evacuated patients, as well as to military medics to save patients in war zones.
The organizer of the course is the Association of Anesthesiologists of Ukraine and the First Medical Association of Lviv. The training will be held with the support of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, with the participation of the First Deputy Minister of Health Serhiy Dubrov. The financial part of the event was undertaken by the largest benefactor of Ukrainian medicine – the American humanitarian organization Direct Relief.

Afterwards, at 12:20 p.m., a briefing will be held with the participation of First Deputy Minister of Health Serhiy Dubrov, Head of the SCCM Mission Jose Diaz-Gomez, First Deputy Mayor of Lviv Andriy Moskalenko and General Director of the First Medical Association of Lviv Oleg Samchuk.
