The world’s leading expert in pain medicine, Dr. Stephen Cohen, is at St. Panteleimon’s Hospital

International symposium “Navigating Comprehensive Pain Management Strategies” has started
Steven Cohen is a world-renowned anesthesiologist. He is one of the most widely published authorities in the field of pain management, with over 400 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters to his credit.

Holding prestigious appointments at Johns Hopkins University and the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, his pioneering work includes the development of FDA-approved therapies and basic research that has influenced pain management practices around the world.

Dr. Cohen is also a colonel in the United States Army. He has participated in military operations in Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan. And his subsequent research played a crucial role in the passage of the 2008 US Military Pain Care Act.

The initiative of this international symposium was developed in cooperation with experts from the Pain Treatment Center of the First Medical Association of Lviv and the international organization Aspen Medical USA for the medical community of Ukraine. Its goal is to rethink and improve the standards of complex pain management, in particular, for amputees and people with war injuries. The program is designed to enhance participants’ understanding of the nature of pain and its impact on rehabilitation and mental health.
