In Lviv, family doctors are trained in rapid HIV testing

A workshop for doctors “Voluntary counseling and testing with rapid HIV tests” is underway in Lviv. 480 medical workers and primary care workers of Lviv have already participated in the six-month training.

The key task of such exercises is to increase the number of tests based on medical institutions, so that all Lviv residents who seek medical help can quickly, free of charge and anonymously undergo HIV testing in a convenient and familiar medical institution.

“Doctors work during the war and take on a lot, they hold the front of public health. The topic of HIV is very important, because in fact everyone can be at risk,” says Nazarii Kolachynskyi, deputy head of the health care department of the LMR.

“I want to thank everyone who participated, thank the organization that helps such events take place. I know that there are already doctors who attended such events and became more interested in the topic of combating HIV infection,” noted Ihor Semenenko, WHO’s national expert on HIV and hepatitis.

We will remind you that the educational program is conducted within the framework of the project “HealthLink: Strengthening efforts to combat HIV/AIDS in Ukraine”, with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), in cooperation with the public union “Your Family Doctor” and with the support of BO “100%” Life”. The partners of the event are the Lviv City Council and the Second Medical Association of Lviv.
