In Lviv, a Ukrainian received a prosthesis in four hours

In just four hours, a prosthesis was made and installed for a man from Kherson at the NEZLAMNI National Rehabilitation Center of the First Medical Association of Lviv. He lost a limb on the second day of the war and was unable to walk for more than seven months. Masters from Hangers Clinic (USA) brought new technology for Ukraine.

48-year-old Oleg Gordiley lost his leg on the second day of the full-scale invasion. It was on February 25 in Kherson during the shelling of the Antoniv bridge. The man stopped at the checkpoint of the Ukrainian military when two Russian missiles flew there. The car burned to the ground. He himself broke his legs. It was not possible to save the right. Doctors are still fighting for the left. She has been motionless for the eighth month, and her husband could not even stand on crutches because of this. Life was unbearable.

But in one moment everything changed. In Lviv, at the NEZLAMNA center, Oleg met with Toddy Stone, a world-renowned prosthetist who has been providing prosthetics to adults and children for over 35 years, but now he came to Ukraine with the technology of rapid prosthetics to help Ukrainians.

“This is an incredibly sensual story. Oleg dreamed of walking again. Toddy has put thousands of people on their feet all over the world. But when he made Oleg’s prosthesis, he cried,” noted the First TMO.

We will remind you that the National Rehabilitation Center NEZLAMNI is being created in the First Medical Association of Lviv. Thanks to this, doctors are already treating, prosthetics and rehabilitating Ukrainians in Ukraine. A multidisciplinary team works with each person at the center, providing surgical, physical, psychological and psychosocial professional care. Thanks to the support of donors, a prosthetics workshop has already been opened and the first bionic prostheses have been installed.
