In Lviv, a Ukrainian was fitted with the world’s lightest prosthesis printed on a 3D printer. Video

In the NEZLAMNI National Rehabilitation Center of the First Medical Association of Lviv, a bionic prosthesis was installed, which was printed on a 3D printer. It was received by Yuriy from Lviv, who lost his hand as a result of a mine-explosive injury. This prosthesis was manufactured by the American company Unlimited Tomorrow.

The first Ukrainian woman to receive such a prosthesis in the USA was 9-year-old Sasha from Buchi with the assistance of the First Lady of Ukraine. And now it has become possible for Ukrainians in Ukraine. Today, 32-year-old Yuriy from Lviv received such a bionic hand. This is the second such hand placed in the world. Several Ukrainian defenders are now waiting for such prostheses. Among them is 41-year-old Oleksandr, who lost a limb in the battle near Chernobyl. The defender emphasizes that for him a prosthesis is an opportunity to be independent.

“Prosthetics is now one of the priorities of our work, because hundreds of patients need functional limbs. It is our duty to take care of them. And now we can do it using the most modern technologies. The fact that the partners provide Ukrainians with bionic prostheses free of charge is highly respected. We are creating the NEZLAMNI National Rehabilitation Center so that every Ukrainian can be saved, prosthetics and rehabilitated in his country,” says Oleg Samchuk, general director of the First Medical Association of Lviv.

Unlimited Tomorrow’s TrueLimb bionic prosthetic limbs are the lightest prosthetic limbs in the world and can be fitted immediately after the wound has healed. They are adjustable and thanks to special sensors during muscle contraction, they allow you to move your fingers. This is a unique development of the American company Unlimited Tomorrow. It was with her that the NEZLAMNI center began cooperation so that as many Ukrainians as possible could receive high-quality prosthetics.

“At Unlimited Tomorrow, we are always committed to making high-quality, affordable bionic prosthetic limbs widely available to the people who need them most,” said Easton LaChapelle, CEO and founder of Unlimited Tomorrow. “Our partnership was the result of our common interests in helping victims in Ukraine.”

Thanks to the global organization Singularity Group, the Ukrainian Red Line Foundation and the creative agency Tabasco, such prostheses will be provided to as many Ukrainians who have suffered from the war as possible. You can sign up for prosthetics by calling 0 800 333 003, or by writing to the Facebook page of the First TMO: https://www.facebook.com/1tmolviv.

We will remind you that a charity collection for bionic prostheses for Ukrainians was started earlier. Joining is simple: you need to go to the dobro.ua website and click the “Support” button. You can specify the amount you will support the project yourself, and you can also send a charitable SMS worth UAH 20 to the number 88001.

The NEZLAMNI National Rehabilitation Center on the basis of the First Medical Association of Lviv is a unique place where everyone who suffered from the war gets a chance to be saved and rehabilitated. A multidisciplinary team works with each such Ukrainian there: a surgeon, a traumatologist, a prosthetist, a psychotherapist, and a rehabilitation specialist. The patient does not seek help abroad or in several different institutions, he receives it in one center.

In order for Ukrainians to recover as quickly as possible after combat injuries, the NEZLAMNI center launched a prosthetics program. In addition to conventional prostheses, the Center’s specialists have begun to install bionic prostheses for patients. Mykhailo Yurchuk received the first prosthesis.
