Among the main symptoms are nasal congestion without a runny nose, dry cough and severe general weakness.
Yesterday, January 24, Ukraine recorded the first case of infection with a new subline of the SARS-CoV-2 variant “Omicron” XBB.1.5, or “Kraken”. The case was recorded in Sumy region. The patient was not vaccinated against coronavirus. The Ministry of Health of Ukraine informs about the new type of strain.
As reported in the Lviv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health, as of today, no cases of infection with the new strain have been recorded in the Lviv Region, but the probability of its migration from other regions of Ukraine is high.
Older people and those with chronic diseases are at risk. Among the main symptoms are nasal congestion without a runny nose, dry cough and severe general weakness.
“We know that this type of strain evades the human immune response, which is why people who received their booster dose of the coronavirus vaccine within the last three months get sick much less. That’s why you should not neglect vaccination and protect yourself, and not expect to meet with a new type of strain,” noted Director General of the Lviv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health Nataliya Ivanchenko.
Residents of Lviv region are urged to get vaccinated, and at the first signs of illness to stay at home, contact a family doctor and undergo an examination. Currently, there are Pfizer (for children and adults), Johnson&Johnson and CoronaVac vaccines in the region. 185,744 people received the first booster dose in Lviv region, 11,620 people received the second booster dose.
You can get vaccinated against coronavirus in Lviv region by first contacting your family doctor or directly at the vaccination point.
