All city polyclinics of Lviv will have modern mental health centers

The Lviv Health Department is working on the creation of modern mental health centers. This is another step towards timely and high-quality assistance to Ukrainians affected by the war and people with other psychological needs.

“Such centers are important for many reasons. First, they provide care that is more accessible to people than psychiatric services. It is closer to where they live and people can visit the center and still have duties at home or work. Also, such centers are a place where medical, psychological and social assistance can be provided together. Here, they can provide follow-up support to people with severe problems after specialized treatment or offer low-intensity care for those with mild and moderate problems,” the city health department explains.

The peculiarity of such centers is that a qualified multi-functional team of specialists works here: psychologist, psychotherapist, psychiatrist, etc. You can contact such centers on the recommendation of a doctor, on the recommendation of a social services specialist, or on your own.

It should be noted that Lviv has a general concept of mental health development until 2030. It is she who provides for the creation of mental health centers. Four such centers have already been opened and are working: at the polyclinic of St. Nicholas Children’s Hospital on Orlyka Street, at the 5th City Hospital on Chuprinka Street, at the 5th City Polyclinic on Vyhovsky Street and at the base of the First TMO on Mazepa Street. The latter was arranged within the UNBROKEN ecosystem. And in the near future, such mental health centers will work in every polyclinic of the city.
