The Importance of Vaccination for Adults: Necessary Immunizations

Vaccines have been helping to protect human health and prevent the spread of dangerous diseases for over two centuries. Thanks to them, vaccinated individuals are less likely to fall ill, and if they do get sick, they experience milder symptoms with fewer complications. Medical professionals emphasize the importance of regular vaccination not only for children but also for adults, as after turning 18, immunizations need to be renewed every 10 years.

Government officials in Drohobych set an example by getting vaccinated against these diseases at their local clinic. The procedure was organized by the Drohobych District Department of the Lviv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention with support from the local health department.

Manager Ihor Maikut emphasizes that all adults need to undergo revaccination every 10 years or start with a primary course of three doses of the DTP-M vaccine if there is no record of previous immunization.

Leader Volodymyr Chuba notes that to create a safe environment, the vaccination coverage among the population needs to be high: 80% of adults and 95% of children. Currently, vaccination against diphtheria and tetanus in Ukraine is free and available at primary healthcare facilities in Drohobych and Stebnyk.
