Famous U.S. surgeon comes to Lviv to help children with facial and body defects: registration

Oksana Jackson, a renowned American plastic surgeon of Ukrainian descent who has been helping children and wounded soldiers for many years, is travelling to Lviv on a new mission. This time, she and her team will spend a week treating children from all over Ukraine at the St. Nicholas Children’s Hospital of the First Medical Unit in Lviv.

American specialists will consult and operate on children with

– cleft lip and palate;

– speech disorders with cleft palate;

– Poland syndrome;

– deformities of the nose and ears;

– facial paralysis;

– burns

– wounds on the face;

– lipomas

– congenital nevi;

– diseases of the mammary glands;

– deformities of the upper extremities.

Oksana Jackson will be joined by David Lowe, an American plastic surgeon and cleft specialist, and Sean Mendenhall, a plastic surgeon and hand surgeon. The foreign doctors will consult and operate on young patients together with the specialists of the St. Nicholas Children’s Hospital.

In addition, as part of Oksana Jackson’s medical mission, Iryna Harbuzniak, a Ukrainian orthopedic traumatologist and paediatric hand surgeon, will also provide consultations for children at our medical institution. This doctor was one of the first to develop the field of plastic reconstructive surgery and hand microsurgery in Ukraine.

The consultations will take place on 20-25 October.

During their last visit to Lviv, a team of US doctors led by Oksana Jackson performed 50 consultations and 20 complex surgeries on Ukrainian children with congenital and acquired facial defects at St Nicholas Children’s Hospital over five days.
