A well-known otolaryngologist from Austria helped a child of a family-type orphanage to breathe freely again

13-year-old Mykola noticed that it was getting harder for him to breathe. Without delay, the mother-educator went to the doctors to find the cause. Therefore, it was necessary to urgently operate on the child. However, such operations are not carried out in Ukraine, because such manipulations can be very traumatic.

“To say we were desperate is an understatement. We prayed, we hoped, we were already thinking about where to look for financing, because it is very expensive to have an operation abroad. And two days later, they learned amazing news – nasal surgeon Michael Rudes is coming to Ukraine, and he is taking on various complex cases. We are very grateful to our doctor Bohdan Linda for telling us about this and helping us get to the consultation. By the way, he assisted Mr. Michael during the operation,” shares mother-educator Inna Kryvko.

Such an operation was carried out in Ukraine for the first time. According to Inna, there were many children with various serious cases with them. For example, one girl’s ear was completely reconstructed by a surgeon taking skin from breast tissue.

“I don’t know how he does all this. He operated on children all day with one small break for coffee. The operation was performed free of charge,” the woman adds.

Mykola returned home a day after the operation. Now the boy is completely healthy.

By the way, during his week-long visit to the St. Nicholas Hospital of the First Medical Association of Lviv, Michael Rudes helped children with congenital defects, facial and ear defects. During this time, he consulted 40 small patients, operated on 12. Five interventions were extremely difficult. But the doctor says that this is not his last visit, because he plans to return to the Lviv hospital for the next visit in six months.
