The doctors of Okhmatdyt region saved 3-year-old Bohdan, who had mastoiditis

A purulent infection near the ear caused the bone to rot.

A three-year-old boy whose otitis (ear inflammation) turned into mastoiditis was successfully treated at the Lviv Regional Clinical Children’s Hospital “Okhmatdyt”. The purulent process destroyed the bone and pus from the mastoid process of the temporal bone penetrated under the skin and formed a large abscess.

The family of three-year-old Bohdan from the Pustomytiv district. The first symptoms that appeared in the boy: pain in the ear and swelling of the ear. The parents turned to the family doctor, who had already referred the child to “Okhmatdyt”.

The doctors emphasize the timeliness of the application, because Bohdan had time to undergo a CT scan and was immediately operated on.

“We pulled out about 10 ml of manure. That’s a lot! If nothing is done, the bone will continue to rot. And the brain is close. And there will be a lot of trouble. The family contacted us on time, we did a CT scan on time. And we operated quickly. In this case, most likely, there was an aggressive infection and a rapid course of otitis. Therefore, it is necessary to immediately consult a doctor in case of such symptoms,” emphasized the head of the Head and Neck Clinic Fedir Yurochko.
