More than fifty babies have already been born in St. Nicholas Hospital in Lviv

In seven months, 535 babies were born in the maternity ward of the St. Nicholas Children’s Hospital of the First Medical Association: 295 boys and 240 girls.

“The birth of each of the babies, as well as the comfortable stay of mother and child in our medical institution, is the result of the work of the entire team of specialists in our maternity department,” the St. Nicholas Hospital emphasizes.

The maternity ward at St. Nicholas Hospital of the First Medical Association of Lviv is another step towards comprehensive care for mothers and children. After all, having specialists and all the possibilities for the treatment of the most complex pathologies, doctors can diagnose them even during pregnancy and help. Children do not need to be transported to other institutions, as was the case before – all assistance is provided immediately on the spot. Here, in particular, there is children’s neurosurgery, cardiac surgery – that is, the entire complex of medical care that can be provided to a newborn baby if necessary.

In total, the department has 10 postpartum rooms, 3 delivery rooms and 2 operating rooms. The department is equipped with all the necessary equipment.

“Unfortunately, there are pathologies in which help should be provided as quickly as possible. And now it can be done here without transporting the baby to other institutions,” says Ivan Miskiv, director of St. Nicholas Hospital. He also emphasizes that the ultimate goal here is the development of fetal surgery – when certain pathologies of the baby can be corrected in the womb.
