The forum aims to draw attention to disease prevention and important and simple tools that help maintain mental and physical health.
For the second time, the forum is being held with the support of the Ukrainian-Swiss project “Acting for Health”. The event was attended by more than 200 participants – school principals, partners of Lviv OVA and volunteers.
During the Forum, the organizers presented the successful results of the projects initiated with the support of LOVA, one of which is “Hear the Doctor” – a volunteer community of intern doctors, senior year students of medical universities.
As part of the “Listen to the Doctor” project, medical students in the format of lectures tell schoolchildren about the basics of a healthy lifestyle, prevention of the most common diseases and the importance of taking care of one’s health. Before lectures, students are trained by project experts (doctors, teachers, etc.).
“We have created an environment in Lviv region that cares for people and teaches them to help each other. For example, the “Hear the Doctor” project helps convey information about healthy eating, mental health, the basics of puberty, and teaches how to provide pre-medical care. And the most important thing is to realize the value of one’s own health, and to pass this knowledge on to friends, parents and other relatives. We are currently working to ensure that people who received shelter in Lviv Oblast have access to high-quality psychological support. That’s why we recruit specialists, conduct training. Our partners help us in this and this is proof that we are not alone in our struggle. Thank you for the support and organization of cool initiatives at the regional level”, – emphasized the head of Lviv OVA Maksym Kozytskyi.
In total, the “Listen to the Doctor” project reached more than 11,000 children in 1.5 years of operation. During this period, about 150 volunteer students gave more than 300 lectures on health in educational institutions of the region. Among those that were the most requested: cardiovascular disease, pre-medical care, injuries, puberty, mental health, vaccinations, healthy eating.

At the same time, the results of the “Community Psychoeducation” project were presented at the Forum. This is training for educational institutions, as part of the strategy of the working group “Medical-psychosocial assistance”, which aims to help educators and parents of students gain knowledge that allows them to quickly respond to deviations in the behavior of students and help them overcome crisis moments without serious consequences. During this and last year, 8,000 people were trained in psychoeducation.
“Since there is still a large number of forcibly displaced people living in Lviv Oblast, our specialists do not always have the necessary qualifications to help a person who suffered as a result of military aggression. That is why they started training for psychologists in the Lviv region. In this direction, we are working with the partners of KCC – the Institute of Mental Health of UCU and the Center for Health and Development “Family Circle”. This month, 100 psychologists have already completed the four-day training. There are 8 more groups planned for June, which is more than 250 psychologists. Our goal is to train 800 specialists,” noted the project coordinator, adviser to the head of Lviv OVA Halyna Bordun.
Psychosocial assistance began to be provided to people from the first days of the full-scale invasion. At the Main Railway Station of Lviv, the volunteer community “Medical-psychological assistance” works 24 hours a day, which meets all evacuation trains. Thanks to these volunteers, 500,000 people have already received first medical, psychological and informational assistance.
