Young families are supported – Drohobych continues to deliver support packages to new mothers. Every week, Drohobych Mayor Taras Kuchma and Oleksandra Pashko, head of the Family and Youth Department, visit the city’s maternity hospital to deliver support packages to new mothers.
During such visits, the community leader simultaneously monitors the state of affairs in the medical institution and the level of medical services provided in the maternity ward of Drohobych City Hospital No. 1.
During the first month of the new year – January – 68 babies were born in the city’s maternity hospital, including two twins. Out of the total number of newborns: 39 boys, 29 girls, and 3 IDP babies.
The mothers in labor are not only given support packages, but also congratulated on the birth of their children and wish them to raise their children under a peaceful sky. The packages contain all the most necessary things for newborns: children’s clothes and the first embroidered shirts, diapers, towels, toys, etc.
Women who are not found in a maternity hospital in the city are given coupons to receive the packages. They should apply for them in the 210 office of the city mayor’s office (Department of Family and Youth).
Also, at the beginning of the new year, one of the maternity wards was modernized. It underwent major repairs: tiles on the walls and floor were replaced, electrical wiring and lighting were changed, a modern sink was installed, and the oxygen supply system was updated. According to Roman Ihnatyshyn, head of the maternity ward, the labor and delivery room needed repairs for quite some time. With the overhaul and modern equipment, the delivery room has become more cozy and comfortable, both for women in labor and for the quality of the medical staff.
The overhaul was partially funded by the administration of Drohobych City Hospital No. 1, as well as by the maternity ward staff and philanthropists.
We would like to add that in Drohobych, aid packages for women in labor have been prepared since the first days of the full-scale invasion of the occupiers, thus supporting young families. The packages are delivered to both local and IDP women.
