In a month, the result is greater than in a year: a two-year-old girl began to take her first steps thanks to rehabilitation in the regional “Okhmatdyt”

The medical facility notes that the parents applied for help in time.

The family is from the Yavoriv district of the Lviv region. In 2-year-old Veronika, cerebral palsy is a lesion of the central nervous system that occurred in the perinatal period. The birth of the child’s mother was premature and difficult.

When the girl’s parents turned to the doctors of the Lviv Regional Clinical Children’s Hospital “Okhmatdyt”, she did not walk, and the massages performed on the child did not give results. However, within a month of rehabilitation at the medical facility, Veronika began to take her first steps.

“They applied in time. We selected her a verticalizer, taking into account her orthopedic problems, where there is a possibility of spreading her legs. This is important for further prevention of subluxation. Unfortunately, before they turned to us, they used only passive methods of treatment – massage. But it has no proven benefits for children with this diagnosis. In such cases, active methods of rehabilitation are needed,” said Oksana Gdyria, head of the Ohmatdyt Rehabilitation Clinic.

After a month of constant work at the rehabilitation clinic, the girl has already started taking her first steps.

“After getting to the specialists of “Okhmatdyt” – the child began to take the first steps. This is a great happiness for me! After the first reception, we were advised what to do. They sent me to an orthopedist, where they discovered a problem with the hip joint. If you compare the situation a month ago and what it is now, there is a big difference. I rejoice at every step of the child. Glad we got here. The child is simply delighted by the rehabilitators. He goes to their classes with joy. They play with her and work at the same time. They also taught me what I should do at home so that rehabilitation takes place every day,” Veronika’s mother Sofia said.
