Over the past year, Lviv Region has experienced two waves of the coronavirus – Orest Chemerys

On March 20, 2020, the first case of coronavirus disease was recorded in Lviv region.

Over the course of three years, Lviv Oblast experienced many different waves of the outbreak of the coronavirus disease. There were overcrowded hospitals, intensive care units, and a huge number of patients with complications, first of all, with viral pneumonias, which very often led to deaths. But if we talk about the last year, there were two waves of the coronavirus disease in the Lviv region, the course of which is assessed as quite mild, and mainly older people who had complications were admitted to the hospital – the director of the LOVA health care department said during a briefing at the Lviv OVA Orest Chemeris.

According to him, a new wave of disease has started in the region.

“Covid has not disappeared anywhere. Currently, we have 307 patients undergoing inpatient treatment. We note that there is a large number of older people and people who have concomitant diseases (diabetes, cardiovascular diseases) and it is the coronavirus that leads to the hospitalization of such patients. Let’s not forget that there is covid, it also spreads to children. 25 children in Lviv Oblast are in medical institutions. Vaccination is the only way to protect yourself,” said Orest Chemeris.

He emphasized that in the third year of the pandemic, the situation has improved significantly thanks to vaccination, namely, thanks to a large number of conscious people who got vaccinated and showed by their own example that their lives and the lives of their loved ones should be valued.

“We urge you to contact family doctors, polyclinics, and outpatient clinics in order to receive your vaccine dose. There are enough vaccines in Lviv Oblast for both adults and children. Komirnati (Pfizer) and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are available in limited quantities, but new doses arrive every 10-14 days. “Coronavak” is available at all vaccination points,” added the director of the health care department of the Lviv Regional Government.
