Lviv Oblast hosted two national badminton championships

54 participants from different cities competed at the championship of Ukraine among boys and girls up to 13 years old and younger.

Yesterday, April 30, the national badminton competition ended in Lviv. During the week, Lviv Oblast hosted two championships of Ukraine at once – first, among boys and girls born in 2011 and younger, and later among boys and girls born in 2009 and younger.

54 participants from different cities – Mykolaiv, Dnipro, Vinnytsia, Haysyn, Kyiv, Kharkiv, Kamianets-Podilskyi, Lviv and Mostysk – competed at the championship of Ukraine among boys and girls up to 13 years old and younger.

A representative of Kherson, who has been living and training in Lviv for a year, also competed for awards. The Lviv region was represented by 22 sportsmen from the Lviv regional school No. 1, the Lviv regional children’s and youth sports school and the “Zhar-ptytsia” badminton club in the city of Mostysk.

In total, the representatives of the Lviv Oblast managed to win eight awards of various kinds.

In the single category, the silver medalist was Tetyana Popova, who joined the national team of the Lviv region after training in Kherson. She also won gold in the women’s pair with Margarita Alexandrova from Mykolaiv and in the mixed pair with Zhan Vorotnikov from Dnipro.

Yana Urbanska became the bronze medalist in the singles category. Together with Bohdana Syrotyuk, she also became a silver medalist in the women’s pair, and together with Maksym Urbanskyi in the mixed pair – bronze medalists. Maksym Urbansky, in turn, won another bronze medal in the men’s pair with Maksym Pilat. Marta Prudyvus also won the women’s doubles with Emma Karatanova from Kharkiv.

Subsequently, the championship of Ukraine among boys and girls up to 15 years of age and younger was also held in Lviv. 80 participants from Mykolaiv, Dnipro, Vinnytsia, Oratov, Haysyn, Kyiv, Kharkiv, Kherson, Lviv, Mostysk, Truskavets, Mykolaivka, Odesa, Khust, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kosov, Cherkasy and Rivne competed for the awards.

Maksym Kushka from Lviv took 3rd place in the men’s doubles category together with Ilya Vorobkalo from Mykolaiv, having for the first time fulfilled the standard for the award of the qualification category Candidate for Master of Sports of Ukraine.

Maria Aleksandrova, a pupil of the Kharkiv Badminton Club, who, due to the war, has been training together with the athletes of the Lviv Youth Sports School No. 1 for over a year, took 2nd place in the singles category, 2nd place in the women’s doubles category together with Sofia Nikolaeva from Mykolaiv, and 1st place in the mixed doubles category with his teammate Lev Antamonov.
