Today, May 7, the largest All-Ukrainian cycling competition “Lviv Sotka” began in Lviv with a total of 500 participants from all over Ukraine.
The competition started on Stryyska Street in Lviv.
The head of Lviv OVA Maksym Kozytskyi greeted the participants and gave the starting shot.
“We are ready to host even such powerful cycling races as the Giro d’Italia in Lviv Region!
I was convinced of this again today during the start of the traditional All-Ukrainian cycling marathon “Lviv Sotka”. More than half a thousand cyclists, dozens of kilometers of road, perfect organization and a high level of motivation of the participants!
If the Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani’s proposal to hold the first stage of the prestigious Giro d’Italia cycling race next year in Ukraine begins to be implemented with practical organizational steps, Lviv region will claim to hold these competitions. For this, the youth and sports department of the Lviv Regional State Administration is already working on possible routes in partnership with the federations.
Thanks to the participants and organizers of the event. This is already the fourteenth year that this event is taking place in Lviv Oblast and for the second year in a row with a charitable purpose – the participants financially help our defenders with their initial contribution. I wish everyone to show their best result! We are heading towards our joint most important victory!” – said the head of Lviv Oblast.
This year’s competition takes place under the slogan United We Stand.
Race participants have the opportunity not only to test their strength on a bicycle, but also to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine, since the funds from the starting fees will be transferred to the needs of the Armed Forces. For the second year in a row, one of the key goals of this bicycle marathon is to raise funds to support the military.
The first finishers will be waiting at 13:00. In total, participants will have 4.5 hours to cover a distance of 85 kilometers. According to the results of the competition, the winners in the men’s and women’s absolute will be determined.
Traffic is partially restricted on the route.

It should be noted that “Lviv Sotka” takes place twice a year – in spring and autumn.
