According to the public indictment of the prosecutors of the Stryi district prosecutor’s office, a previously tried 48-year-old resident of Novy Rozdol was convicted of attempted murder (part 2 of article 15, paragraph 13, part 2 of article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The court sentenced him to 12 years in prison.
Prosecutors proved in court that in July of this year in Novy Rozdol, a local resident was drinking alcoholic beverages together with a 41-year-old friend in an apartment. During the feast, a conflict began between the men, which turned into a fight. During the fight, the accused struck the victim with a knife several times.
After that, the man took the acquaintance to the entrance and threw him over the railing of the stairwell down and fled from the scene, believing that the latter had died. The victim was discovered by a resident of the house, who called an ambulance and the police.
The victim managed to survive only thanks to timely medical assistance.
The accused is currently in custody.
The court verdict becomes legally binding after the expiry of the appeal period.
The pre-trial investigation was carried out by investigators of police department No. 2 of the Stryi district police department of the Main Department of the National Police in the Lviv region.
