A 19-year-old resident of Sambir helped “evaders” to illegally cross the state border

Lviv region to try offender who helped ‘evaders’ to illegally cross state border

The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings has been completed. The accused, a 19-year-old resident of Sambir, faces imprisonment for a term of five to seven years with disqualification to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years.

The law enforcement established that the offender assisted two men liable for military service in smuggling them across the state border of Ukraine to one of the EU countries outside the checkpoints under martial law.

The defendant developed a plan for illegal border crossing, organised an overnight stay for the “evaders”, and indicated a route through fields and forests to a “safe” place where they could illegally cross the state border of Ukraine with the Republic of Poland without being detected.

The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings initiated under Part 2 Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Illegal transfer of persons across the state border of Ukraine) has been completed. The indictment was sent to the court for consideration.

The offender was exposed by officers of the Migration Police Department in Lviv region, together with operatives of the 7th Border Guard Detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and investigators of the Police Department No. 2 of the Sambir District Police Department, under the procedural supervision of the Sambir District Prosecutor’s Office.
