Uncovering Illegal Sale of Ammunition via the Internet
Under the procedural guidance of the prosecutors of the Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office, a 34-year-old resident of Kharkiv was exposed and suspected. He is charged with illegal acquisition, storage, carrying, and sale of combat ammunition without the required legal permit (Part 1 Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Organization of Illegal Sale
According to the investigation, at the beginning of this year, the suspect organized the illegal sale of ammunition. For this purpose, he posted an advertisement for the sale of ‘goods’ on a specialized website on the Internet. After receiving payment to his card, he twice sent the orders to the ‘client’ by mail. Thus, it was documented that the subject sent 450 cartridges to a resident of Stryi region by parcel.
Searches and Seizure of Evidence
During the searches conducted at the residence of the suspect, cartridges, casings, tools and components for cartridge modification, and other material evidence were found and confiscated. The investigative actions continue. The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the investigators of the Stryi District Police Department of the Main Department of the National Police in the Lviv region.
Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
