A resident of Zolochiv Oblast, who beat a fellow villager to death, is on trial

Under the procedural leadership of the Zolochiv District Prosecutor’s Office, a pre-trial investigation was completed and an indictment was sent to the court against a 38-year-old local resident for intentionally inflicting grievous bodily harm that caused the victim’s death (part 2 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The investigation established that in one of the villages of the Zolochiv district on the first day of the Easter holidays, the accused came to visit his acquaintance, a 61-year-old fellow villager.

They went to the kitchen together, where they started drinking alcoholic beverages. During the feast, a conflict arose between a man and a woman.

During the dispute, the accused began to beat the victim with his fists, causing her to fall to the floor. Despite this, the suspect continued to beat the victim. After the beating, the man went to his home.

The next day, her daughter came to visit the victim. However, she found her mother beaten on the kitchen floor and called an ambulance.

The woman was taken to the intensive care unit, where she died a few days later.

At the prosecutor’s request, the defendant was remanded in custody.

The pre-trial investigation was carried out by investigators of the Zolochiv district police department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Lviv region.

Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
