The victim, a resident of Zolochiv district, is in the hospital with severe head injuries. The suspect faces up to ten years of imprisonment for the crime.
As the law enforcement officers established, on January 26 at around 7:00 p.m. in the vestibule of the Lviv-Zdolbuniv electric train, three residents of Zakarpattia, aged 27, 40, and 47, brutally beat one of the passengers, a 38-year-old resident of Zolochiv district, during the conflict, after which they got off at the nearest station and ran away The victim with severe head injuries was hospitalized.
Detectives of the criminal police and investigators of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1 were involved in the search for the perpetrators. Through the conducted measures, the law enforcement officers quickly established the whereabouts of the attackers and detained them in one of the villages near Lviv. The youngest of them had previously been held criminally liable on several occasions, in particular, for theft.
On January 28, investigators of the territorial division of the police, under the procedural guidance of the Galician district prosecutor’s office, informed the perpetrators of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in part 2 of article 121 (Intentional grievous bodily harm) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of seven to ten years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. According to the court’s decision, the suspects are in custody.
