Using his official position and abusing his authority, the head of the state-owned enterprise demanded an illegal benefit for concluding a contract for the lease of real estate and the unhindered release of goods.
The perpetrator was exposed by investigators of the particularly serious crimes investigation department (detectives) of the Lviv Oblast Police, operatives of the Security Service of Ukraine in Lviv Oblast under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Oblast Prosecutor’s Office.
As the law enforcement officers established, a 60-year-old resident of Zolochiv district, the director of one of the state-owned enterprises located in Stryi district, demanded an illegal benefit for the unhindered conclusion of the lease agreement for the premises of the State Reserve of Ukraine and the release of goods. Such actions could lead to destabilization of the operation of the critical infrastructure object in wartime conditions.
The director was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine while receiving part of the illegal profit in the amount of 200,000 hryvnias.
Cash has been withdrawn.
As a matter of fact, the investigators opened criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Article 368 (Acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of an illegal benefit by an official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a period of five to ten years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years, with confiscation of property.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
