A minor passenger of the car died from injuries received as a result of the accident.
We will remind you that the traffic accident happened on February 19 at 00:10 on Peremyshlyanska Street in the city of Glynany, Lviv District. As the law enforcement officers established during the pre-trial investigation, the driver of the VAZ 2101 car, a 21-year-old local resident, while in a state of alcohol intoxication, lost control and drove into an electric pole.
As a result of the accident, the passenger of the car, a 17-year-old local resident, died of his injuries in the hospital.
Based on the results of the examinations, the investigators of the transport crime investigation department of the Lviv Oblast Police, under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Oblast Prosecutor’s Office, notified the driver of suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 3 of Article 286-1 (Violation of traffic safety rules or operation of transport by persons, who drive vehicles in a state of intoxication, which caused the death of the victim) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of five to ten years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of five to ten years.
The court chose a preventive measure for the suspect – detention.
The pre-trial investigation has been completed. The indictment has been referred to the court.
