In Sambir region, the driver hit a pedestrian and ran away

It was established that the driver was in a state of alcohol intoxication.

On December 27, around 10:40 p.m., the police received a report that in the village of Verkhne Vysotske, Sambir district, an unknown driver in an unidentified car hit an 18-year-old resident of one of the district’s villages, and then fled the scene.

As a result of the accident, the pedestrian was injured and hospitalized.

Detectives of the criminal police and crews of the response groups of the patrol police of police department No. 2 of the Sambir district police department were involved in the search for the runaway driver.

Through the conducted measures, after studying the video from the Bezpechna Lvivshchyna surveillance cameras, the law enforcement officers established that the collision was committed by a VAZ-2108 car, which was soon discovered hidden in the bushes on the banks of the Stryi River. The identity of the driver, a 19-year-old resident of the district who was driving the vehicle while intoxicated, was also established.

According to the fact, the investigators of police department No. 2 of the Sambir district police department opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 286-1 (Violation of the rules of road traffic safety or operation of transport by persons driving vehicles while intoxicated) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of up to three years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of three to five years.

Necessary investigative actions are being carried out, law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the accident, and soon the court will choose a preventive measure for the detainee.
