The police detained the driver who committed a fatal accident in the Lviv district

As a result of a car collision, one person died. Five more, including a 13-year-old boy, were taken to intensive care.

The traffic accident happened on January 6, around 9:15 p.m., on the Kyiv-Chop highway near the village of Pasyky-Zubrytskyi, Lviv district.

As the law enforcement officers have previously determined, the driver of the Skoda Fabia, a 30-year-old resident of one of the villages of the district, lost control, drove into the oncoming traffic lane, where he collided with another Skoda Fabia driven by a 21-year-old resident of Lviv district

As a result of the injuries sustained in the accident, the driver of the car died at the scene, and her passengers, a 22-year-old woman from Lviv and two residents of the area – a 23-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman – were injured and taken to intensive care. The driver of another car and his passenger, a 13-year-old resident of the Lviv district, were also injured and were taken to intensive care.

The driver of the Skoda Fabia, who committed a fatal accident, was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, and the court will soon choose a preventive measure for him.

According to the fact, the investigators of the Department of Investigation of Crimes in the Field of Transport of the Lviv Oblast Police opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of Traffic Safety Rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of three to eight years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of up to three years or without it.

An investigation is underway, law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
